A new open-source Python library called imaginAIry, wrapping the InstructPix2Pix model, allows developers to edit images by typing plain-text instructions.

The tool, posted to Hacker News by developer Bryce Drennan, lets users run commands like ‘make it winter’ or ‘remove the cars’ to alter photographs. Drennan demonstrated edits turning a portrait of the Girl with a Pearl Earring into a cyborg or making the Golden Gate Bridge snowy. The library builds on Stable Diffusion and works on GPU-equipped systems or Apple M1 Max hardware, with edits taking about two seconds on a 2080 Ti.
